Changing EnterpriseOne 8.97’s Look & Feel

Read Time:1 Min, 32 Sec

There is a thread on JDEList.com that Winston Price, whom I believe is a Project Engineer at WTS, started about changing the "fonts & colors" of EnterpriseOne 8.97.

I don’t mean to be negative, but why?

I am trying to justify the time that it takes to change the "look & feel" of EnterpriseOne. Even if you spend just little time on it, it doesn’t seem like it would be worth it. Especially, because of situations like you are running into now. Oracle comes out with a new Tools Release and changes the way CSS is handled, so you have to figure it all out again.

I understand that some user communities like to see their logo on the application or have that text bold or have that gray a little grayer or not have the Oracle logo, but that really seems like a "want" not a "need".

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne I guess I think that all modifications to software should be cost justified and something like adding logos or changing the colors of the screen seem pretty difficult to justify. Many shops have to cost justify application changes and I think that changing the "look & feel" should be treated in the same manner.

Now, I understand that as "service providers" many IT shops feel like they can’t say "no". Well, I’m not saying that we should say "no", but rather educate the user community on what is the real cost of changing relatively "minor" annoyances.

Now, if Justin Miller, who has contributed to this fine thread, is able to come with a slick tool to edit E1’s user interface, then the significance of by argument may decrease considerably.

**Yes, I know the screen shot is from 8.96**
